The Greater Holy Assembly (Idra Rabba Qadisha)

Rabbi Schimeon addresses his companions, asking how long they remain as one column, and cites the verse that it is time for the Tetragrammaton to act because the law has been destroyed. He says the days are few, the creditor urgent, the reapers few, and calls the companions to assemble and appoint as King Him who holds life and death. Rabbi Schimeon sits and weeps, lamenting whether to reveal or not; the companions keep silent. Rabbi Abba arises and cites the arcanum of the Tetragrammaton being with those who fear Him. The companions are numbered and named, including Rabbi Eleazer his son. They give their hands to Schimeon and enter a field. Schimeon prays, has them place their hands in his bosom, recites the curse against graven images, and expounds the verse concerning the Ancient of Days. He seats Eleazer before him and Abba beside him, declaring they represent the columns. A voice from the Higher Assembly is heard; their knees knock in fear. Schimeon rejoices, saying the matter depends on love, and speaks on concealing the word and the need for secrecy. He declares he will not tell heaven or earth. When he opens his mouth, the place is shaken.
